Family Owned. Fiercely Independent.
After the birth of our daughter Amy in 1987, we started Amy’s Kitchen to produce delicious, nourishing organic convenience foods for health-conscious people who are sometimes too busy to cook. Amy’s is a family-run business, and we supervise every aspect of our business and take pride in customer satisfaction. All the fruits, vegetables and grains we use are grown organically, without the use of insecticides, GMOs and other harmful chemicals. We prepare these natural ingredients with the same careful attention in our kitchen as you would in your own home.
We were organic before it was a national certification. So when the U.S. Department of Agriculture decided to create standards for organic, they looked to us for guidance. Together with other industry leaders, we helped pioneer the organic food industry and, more importantly, we helped make organic food available to more people.
All of our dishes are non-GMO and we’re a proud supporter of GMO labeling initiatives. Because we believe that people have a right to know what they put in their bodies. We were also the first to market with non-BPA-lined cans, and we’re happy to see many other food companies following our lead.
Amy's Kitchen
Our Food Philosophy
We believe that good, flavorful food is made with good, flavorful ingredients and a lot of love.
Delicious above everything
We believe that you can never be too thorough. That’s why we taste every zucchini, carrot, mushroom and everything else we grow. This might have something to do with our reputation with farmers for being picky and demanding; but if you’re making tomato soup, you have to start with the best tomato you can find.
Just look at the label to see which products are:

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I really make a filling lunch from this can without interrupting my workday?
Yes. The can goes from desk drawer or office pantry to a hot, hearty meal in roughly five minutes via microwave or stovetop, with zero chopping and zero meal planning required.
Will the medium spice level distract me during afternoon meetings?
No. The medium heat is approachable, not overpowering. It adds flavor without the burn that can derail focus during a packed afternoon of calls.
Does the 14.7 oz can work as a single lunch portion, or will I need a side?
It works as a full single-serve lunch. For a longer work session, pair it with rice, a side salad, or a baked potato to extend the meal without much extra effort.
Can I prep multiple cans at the start of the week for back-to-back meeting days?
Yes. Stock your office pantry with several cans, and you have a ready-to-heat lunch every day with no prep, no leftovers to store, and no daily decision-making.
Will a vegan, gluten-free canned chili actually keep me full through a long project deadline?
Yes. The combination of organic red beans and organic tofu delivers plant-based protein and fiber, which are the two nutrients most associated with sustained energy and reduced afternoon slumps.
I am trying to cut caffeine and sugar crashes at work. Will this lunch help?
A protein-and-fiber-rich lunch like this helps stabilize blood sugar compared with carb-heavy takeout, which can reduce the mid-afternoon energy dip that often drives caffeine and sugar cravings.
Can I eat this at my desk without creating a strong smell that bothers coworkers?
The aroma is mild compared with many hot lunches. It is noticeable but not overpowering, and most office kitchens handle it without complaints. Use a microwave cover to contain steam.
Is the can office-pantry friendly in terms of size and storage?
Yes. The 14.7 oz can fits standard office pantries, breaks room shelves, and desk drawers. It is shelf-stable so there is no need for a fridge until it is opened.
Amy's canned chili vs. ordering delivery for a work lunch, which is more productive?
Delivery takes 30 to 60 minutes and disrupts focus with app notifications. A can of Amy's heats in five minutes, costs less, and lets you stay in flow on a project.
Amy's Light in Sodium vs. a regular canned chili, which is better for a workday?
The Light in Sodium version is the better workday choice because heavy sodium leads to bloating and water retention that can make a long afternoon feel sluggish. Amy's cuts sodium in half without sacrificing flavor.
Amy's canned chili vs. a protein bar or shake, which is a better desk lunch?
A can of Amy's delivers substantially more protein, fiber, and satiety per serving than a bar or shake. For a long, focused afternoon, the hot, hearty meal is the more sustainable choice.
What if I do not have a microwave or stovetop at my desk?
A thermos of boiling water poured into the can (after opening) works as an improvised heat source. Many work-from-home setups and most office break rooms have at least a hot water option.
Will eating chili at my desk feel too heavy and slow me down?
It is hearty, not heavy. The plant-based protein and fiber are filling without the post-lunch coma often associated with rich, salty takeout lunches, which is exactly why busy workers keep it on hand.
Can I rely on this for an entire work week of lunches?
Yes. Stocking five cans gives you a week of zero-prep lunches. Rotate flavors within the Amy's chili line, such as blending Medium and Spicy, to keep it interesting.
Is the price per can reasonable compared with daily lunch spending?
Compared with a typical restaurant or delivery lunch, a can of Amy's is a fraction of the cost. Most office workers save significantly per week by keeping a few cans in the pantry.
How do I heat Amy's Light in Sodium Medium Chili from the can?
Stovetop: open the can, pour into a saucepan, and heat over medium for 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Microwave: open the can, pour into a microwave-safe bowl, cover loosely, and heat on high for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring halfway through. Always heat until steaming hot before serving.
Can I use this chili as a base for Cincinnati-style chili?
Yes. Pour the can into a saucepan and stir in a small amount of warm spices such as cinnamon, allspice, and a splash of apple cider vinegar, then simmer briefly. Serve over spaghetti with diced onions and shredded cheese for a quick Cincinnati-style bowl.
How do I turn this can into a loaded chili bowl for dinner?
Heat the chili as directed, then pour over a bowl of rice, a baked potato, or tortilla chips. Top with diced avocado, shredded cheese or a cheese alternative, sour cream, and diced tomatoes for a satisfying, restaurant-style bowl at home.
Does this chili pair with other Amy's chili varieties for a custom blend?
Yes. Many customers blend it with Amy's Spicy or other Light in Sodium varieties to create a custom heat level and flavor profile. Combining two cans is a popular way to build a personalized harvest chili.
Is this chili compatible with vegan and dairy-free topping recipes?
Yes. The chili itself is vegan and gluten-free, so it pairs naturally with plant-based toppings such as avocado, dairy-free cheese, vegan sour cream, and nutritional yeast without any compatibility issues.
What is in the can, and do I need to buy anything separately to enjoy it?
Each can contains 14.7 oz of Amy's Light in Sodium Organic Medium Chili made with organic red beans, organic tofu, organic tomatoes, and organic jalapeño peppers. You need only a can opener, a bowl, and a way to heat it. Toppings, sides, and a can opener are sold separately.
Is this canned chili safe for people with common food allergies?
It is vegan and gluten-free, and contains no dairy or meat. It does contain soy (tofu) and is made in a facility that handles common allergens. Always read the current ingredient statement on the can for the most accurate allergen information.
How long is the shelf life, and how should I store it?
The can is shelf-stable for two to three years or longer when stored in a cool, dry place. Once opened, transfer any unused portion to a sealed container, refrigerate, and use within three to four days.
What is the difference between canned chili and chili made from a dry mix?
Canned chili like Amy's is fully cooked, seasoned, and ready to heat, with no water to add, no measuring, and no waiting. Dry chili mixes require you to add and cook your own protein and tomatoes, take significantly more time, and offer less flavor consistency out of the package.
